If you do need help and find yourself slipping into depression, seek emergency assistance. This help could come from friends or family members, but you may need to see a professional if your mental health starts to deteriorate. Try not to talk about your broken relationship with your friends too much and attempt to enjoy activities that take your mind off things. If you were not the person that decided to end things, don’t assume you are no longer attractive. Chances are the relationship failed because you were simply not compatible with one another. If you were cheated on, don’t take this to heart – the other person is at fault for being weak and unable to resist temptation.

Distance yourself if necessary

Don’t try to rush the healing process. Give yourself as much time as you need to start feeling better and preparing yourself for the next chapter of your emotional life. Be angry for a while but then try to let it go and embrace the future. It may be wise to unfriend or block them on social media if you still have feelings for them. You could unblock or re-add them when things are not so raw. Whatever you do, don’t contact them after a drink – you may wish to delete their number to avoid this temptation, as you will wake up feeling wracked with embarrassment.
