Improving Your Odds: How to Increase the Prospect of Dating Success

Dating has its ups and downs, just like romantic relationships. Those who have thriving and healthy relations know what to do to improve their odds of meeting and keeping the right one. Here’s how to increase your dating success.

Spend Time on Your Profile

Today, there’s less stigma regarding online dating. Many people are doing it. Therefore, you need to do your best to standout from the rest of the potential singles. Spend more time creating your online profile, being sure to list your good qualities and why others should want to date you. It takes some creativity and a bit of showing versus telling in some cases. For example, if you’re a funny person, then upload pictures that feature you in funny poses, etc.

Don’t Be Shy

Those who are introverted tend to keep fewer friends and are less vocal as larger groups form. Do your best to come out of your shell and grow your social circle. Go to more events, be more likely to approach someone and converse, etc. Being shy and being single does not mix. If being outgoing is difficult, read articles on how to be more social.

Don’t Discuss Your Baggage

You may have had a horrible relationship in the past, which makes you reluctant in the present. While it’s okay to be somewhat cautious, don’t let the past hinder present opportunities. Furthermore, don’t discuss or complain about former boy or girlfriends. Speaking poorly of others makes you look bad.

Be Confident

No one likes a person who is cocky but being too reserved can send the wrong message too. Be sure to act confident. While the other person may not think you’re their type, it doesn’t mean that you should take it personally or think you won’t click with the next person. Dating requires selling yourself, which necessitates confidence and a healthy ego. Accept the current state of things and do your best to improve it.

Go On Several Dates

Those who are recently new to dating after being in a longtime relationship are encouraged to go on a number of dates to meet potential suitors. Some people find themselves rebounding or getting into a new relationship too soon. Be sure to give yourself time to explore options and get familiar with the current world of dating.

Keep a Lid on Habits

Some people like to smoke cigarettes or use their vape pen when on a date. You shouldn’t have to act differently, yet be mindful of others and their preferences. Perhaps they don’t want you to smoke or load your vape pen with e liquid in front of them, for example. It may be better to excuse yourself and go outside for a smoke if you feel the need.

Don’t Be Too Aggressive

Some may be in a hurry to get back in an intimate relationship. Don’t be too pushy, however, when it comes to sex. You don’t want the other person to feel rushed into being intimate or feel as if you’re using them for sexual relations. There is nothing wrong with two adults broaching the subject of sex, but don’t turn the other person away or make them feel awkward.

Have Fun But Keep Expectations Low

It would be great to find the love of your life but that takes time, and for some, it requires a lot of dating. Have fun while dating but don’t set your expectations too high, as you could set yourself up for disappointment and a negative outlook. A great relationship takes time and nurturing. Don’t be too hard on yourself or others and don’t expect too much.

Don’t Get Too Tanked

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a cocktail or two, but you don’t want to get too tipsy. You want to make a good impression, especially on first dates. You want the person to get to know you and not the inebriated version of you. Order a drink or two but keep alcohol consumption to a minimum.

Offer to Pay

Whether you’re a guy or a girl, offer to pay for food and drinks. Usually, the male will pick-up the check, but it’s common for women to at least offer to pay for their portion of the check. Don’t assume the male will pay the whole thing, for that can be seen as rude. If you’re a male, you don’t be overly pushy, for a woman who is not very interested may want to pay her half as not to make the male feel used.
